It starts with a 9-year-old Eve, determined to contribute her share to a family of five siblings and a loving mother by folding clothes in a dress shop.
Since those days, young Eve Nober has matured into a savvy businesswoman. In late 1990, Eve was named number 365 in the list of Top 500 Woman-Owned Businesses along with Martha Stewart, Kate Spade, Jenny Craig and others.
In 1960, after leaving her position at Bullock as a buyer, Eve started her first clothing manufacturing business by the name Eve Le Coq. The basic principles of integrity and honesty made the business such a success that the company was acquired by Drew International. Following this success, Eve decided to try her hand in the retail business. She opened a single store, "Designer Labels For Less", in The Cooper Building in downtown Los Angeles. The store eventually offered off-priced goods from many of the top designer houses: Donna Karan, Dior, Calvin Klein, Anne Klein, Emanuel Ungaro, Fila and many others. The concept took off, and within seven years she had 30 stores in California, Arizona, and Nevada.
Eve's combined experience as buyer, manufacturer of a clothing line, and a retail chain owner put her in a unique position to start yet another business, DLM.
With 100,000 square feet of space and over one million pieces in stock, DLM is one of the largest jobber in the West region. DLM buys popular products from Macy's, Bloomingdales, Von Maur, Kohl's and the like, merchandises them according to designers labels and sells them at sharply discounted prices, so a buyer can easily pick what he or she wants and see how it will look in their stores.
